My Style

A great headshot must have certain qualities. It should capture something unique and interesting about your personality. It should show what you look like on a great day. And it should be an engaging, creative and original photograph. If one or more of these things is missing, your headshot will be just another face in the stack of pictures. Working actors have great shots. Being a good actor does not necessarily mean you're a working actor. Getting great shots is a vital part of becoming a working actor.

I am a big fan of natural light. There is no artificial light source on the planet that can mimic the sun's brilliant tones. Natural light is also the key to making you look like yourself. It is also, by far, the most flattering type of light. With artificial light, what you look like can be manipulated and controlled by the photographer. You are unique; your headshots should be too.

I will choose various locations for the shoot, based on what works best for you. Photographers who only shoot in a studio tend to get trapped into one specific "look" or style. If you ever look at someone's headshot and your first thought is, "I know who took these!" there is a big problem. Your shots are about you, not me. Because of my background in acting and comedy, I keep the shoots light and fun. I know how stressful this process can be, and I do my best to make you forget we are even shooting headshots. And because I shoot in a photojournalistic style, I try to capture a genuine moment in your life. I will not be posing you or giving you verbal prompts. Photographers who do this are concerned with the photograph not the actor.

Getting headshots is an important (and mandatory) part of being a working actor. Equally as important is choosing the right photographer. Do your research and choose the photographer that will work best for you. Hopefully, I'll be that photographer.

WHAT IS A "LOOK"?
A look is a series of photos that have the same hair/makeup/outfit. However, several expressions can be captured within each look. Often actors are asked to have both "Commercial" and "Theatrical" shots. We highly recommend having each shot vary in look. Certain clothing is great for commercial shots, but are not useful as theatrical, and vice versa.
